Abstract:

The research goal is to assess the impact of fish management on various species commonly present in commercial waters used for sport fishing. Scale cortisol quantified by ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) as biomarker for chronic stress will be correlated to various aspects of fish management. These findings are of interest for the sport fishing industry as quantification and subsequent mitigation of chronic stress is pivotal in creating a more sustainable industry.
