Optimization of fish diets by inclusion of lupine meal and its potential effect on the chronic stress level in European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

StressChron Framework:

Project code 087
Acronym FISHDIET
Role Co-coordinator
Research area Unravelling the impact of chronic stress across vertebrates
Research topic Feed as stressor focusing on invertebrates (e.g. Artemia), mycotoxins and fish feed constituents
Vertebrate Fish
Species European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

Abstract:

The research goal is to assess the effect of the inclusion of different levels of lupine meal in the normally animal based diet of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) on the hypothalamic-pituitary-interrenal (HPI) axis activity by quantification of scale cortisol using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) as biomarker for chronic stress in fish.

Specifics:

Keywords: aquaculture, fish, stress, diet, optimization, cortisol, scale

Funding: Internal

Status: Finalized
